Each game has its merritts but the deal breaker for me was the mechanics of the game. BF2 was too complex really, BF3 has that streamlined feel to feel more natural. BF2 maps ruled, they are huge, and to make them bigger they give you a 5second sprint time (bullsh!t). I did enjoy seeing the server half full and seeing happy BF2'rs but I can't say I'll be back I've changed in my gaming habits and on BF3, L4D2 and Skyrim really satiate those habits... Sad I didnt get to knife H7 and Walkers a pussy for NEVER trying to go into a knife fight with me... Walker get your ass into BF3.
I'll tell you what though... it was seriously badass to be back in a squad with loki, dex, P00P, Bubba and death.. talk about feelin nostalgic... I'm perfectly content to play BF2.. I might get BF3 in the near future, but if it's anything like BC2 was, I'm just not gonna like it as much.. and hey, the whole squad was able to communicate without external assistance. Talk about a novel idea...

In BF3 I have that feeling everynight. I play with most of my BF2 buddies all bar a few... Hell I play with Foretold, he and I have a ton of history in BF2, Dex is always online as is Looky and SuperCarl. The only people I miss are the fringe BF2 friends, my core peeps are in BF3. And TS is much better than ingame voip for quality though I WISH there was VOIP ingame so we could actually keep players right now we have to force people to install teamspeak...

I didn't want to turn the other topic into another BF2 vs BF3 thread, but since this one already is then I will agree with Max. While BF2 was my first love, and I spent countless hours every night playing it for quite a while, I will likely never go back to it. While I will agree that in an overall rating system I would rate it higher than BF3 it is equivalent to watching Avatar, then trying to get excited about the special effects in The Never Ending Story. It just doesn't do it.

The lack of (people will hate me for this) Arcade-y feel in BF2 ruins it for me. In BF3 it feels so good - it feels like you are a super-soldier from a 1990s action film.... BF2 feels like you are a overweight asthmatic accountant from head office playing paintball.
