    Good luck with your garden bob! One of my favorite parts of summer is being able to eat some tasty tasty fully ripened garden fresh tomatoes. Gotta watch out for those damn birds though; they don't actually go for the fruit but seem to love pecking the hell out of the plants when they sprout.

    Yeah, unfortunately the tactic of "having kids for slave labor around the house" doesn't work once they hit their teen years... unless they have some type of allowance that hinges on chores..

    Strawberries, tomatoes, carrots, and basil have all done well for me in my little garden. Once the basil starts growing, I get so much of it that I have to bag it up and give it to my friends and family. Blackberry vines also do good, but if you don't maintain them, they can easily take over your back yard.

    I had a couple hard freezes last winter that killed pretty much everything, even when watering during the night and covering some with blankets.

    I garden the shit out the summer.

    I Dug up last years, Bells, jalapeno's and Thai peppers, I've still got em producing.
    I compost as well. Horse shit is the best. Love Them Road apples.

    Also with all that is thrown away these days, there is never areason to buy Fert or Pestacides.
    Does anyone Bee keep?
