Alien swarm map making thread!

Hey everyone!

This game is one that is definately going to require some quality community map making if it wants to become a respectable game.

So far is has a very simple map editor that I am just not playing around with. So I though we could start getting some ideas together to formulate a general map/campaign idea.

So post up any ideas you have for maps you would like to see made and someone of the resident map makers here could start working on one thing together to get a great map out.

I want to see some new maps people! Post 'em up!!!

Adretheon and I are both looking into making tilesets instead of maps so that anyone can make maps. He figured it out so hopefully I can get up to speed and we can whip out some things.

A simple map editor...
It's actually not that simple. You can make the rooms and hallways in Hammer and stick them in that editor, which then lets you put the peices together like a puzzle. It's really neat.

But the tilegen is a simple editor, it's drag and drop mapping.

You're talking about doing stuff in Hammer and adding it to tilegen.

I have a very basic tutorial finished right now. I gotta do some editing to it before we put it on the front page. It shows people how to make basic one room maps from hammer and how to import it to AS to use in the tilegen, and also how to get it working in game. I'll write up a second one that goes into more detail about making multiple room maps, but I wanted to write a basic one first for the people that know hammer but needed help putting the maps in tilegen and getting them to work.

I should be done with the second one tonight, I'd working on it sooner, but I have family comin over. Hopefully it'll get people interested enough to make stuff for it.
