Its amazing how this plant can be used in so many ways.

Nope... Depending on the test, they can cause a false positive to pop.

I know of people that have tested positive. The kolaches are loaded with poppy seeds, this isnt just 15 sprinkled on a bagel.

In that case, it's not possible every time then. I come from an extensive Czech/Moravian family and every time we get together we eat nothing but poppyseed kolaches. I'm talking deep Czech where the grandparents still speak the language. When I joined the Marine Corps in 98 my flight was scheduled to leave Sunday afternoon. The Saturday before my parents threw me a going away party and everyone came with kolaches. I ate a ton of them. When I arrived in San Diego we eventually had a drug test. The guy a few bunks down got taken away by PMO because he actually did something he shouldn't have....

If you read the snopes article, it says a lot of places have upped the 'trigger' levels for a positive test. It may be that you popped positive, but your levels weren't high enough for them to actually do anything.

It's hard to believe that I have never been within that required range where they could do something or even say something because while in the service I went through many drug tests and poppyseed kolache tubes have always been a large part of my diet. I wonder if the frequency of consumption has an effect on these tests.

It only stays in your system for 36-48 hours...

It has happened in the military before, I know a man on the verge of being kicked out and after swearing up and down they tested it to see if the poppy seeds really would show up. They had him in isolation and his mom sent some kolaches, he tested negative ate them then tested positive. Maybe they have indeed upped the tolerance level.

easily. Had a professor once that did research on tobacco plants. research which required making viruses that are really good at killing tobacco plants.

same would go for any plant. virus. genetic modification. disperse. Fungus, bacteria.....likely even easier, since then you can just use plasmids and artificial chromosomes. Piece of cake.

Maybe she knew he was in trouble and sent kolaches laced with heroin! The perfect crime!
