Figured I'd drop by
the CoD4 forum and let you guys know, I had CoD4 given to me as a gift. Hopped on the server the other night. Smooth play and craziness. Totally different from BF2, I might need a crash course sometime. So if any of you regulars or clan groupies feel like helping a fellow TTP brother out, let me know.
I know next to nothing about CoD4 or it's scoring/leaderboard. I will be playing under the name 'Pathfinder'.

glad to have you aboard. You'll pick up quick. If you play in the evenings there are plenty of regs to show you the ropes. I'll make sure to keep an eye out and i as well as the others will be glad to help you out anytime.

Hehe, I was wondering where you had disappeared too. We had lots of fun in BF2 together, now you can show me the ropes here LOL.

Welcome to COD 4! Don't hesitate to speak up in game and ask for help; you'll catch on quickly, trust me.

you'll have no choice but to catch on quickly
it's too fast paced not to.
welcome, and feel free to hit me up in game. the one bit of advice that i got, had a hard time listening to, but now is my only solemn bit to give out is to be patient. starting out is hard. everyone will know where you are, because the spots you go to try to not get raped is where everyone else went when they started. everyone else will have better weapons. you will get there, but it takes a little bit of time. the good news is that you will rank VERY fast. nothing like the BF series of ranking. keep grabbing kits off the ground. they will have much better weapons.
have fun!

Re: Figured I'd drop by
Welcome Bravo.... COD4 could always use some good solid players from the BF2 land.
My advise to you as a beginer in COD4 on TTP server (I know you're a solid TTP veteran).... is to always check your 6. It's far more probable that an enemy will be flanking us here on COD4, than with BF2. Someone will always be flanking..... and once they penetrate our flank, then it's usually a terrible death for all of us.
Follow the call of who ever has the bomb.... and if you have the bomb, make the call.
Have fun, kill, kill, kill, and don't be detered by some of our finest.

Who said that the guns you unlock are better than the stocks? The only three weapons that amount to being very powerful are the AK-47, the M4, and the Godly P90. Otherwise, the stocks are EXTREMELY good. Take a look at my stats if you want to see proof.
The M16 can be deadlier than the M4 or P90 in good hands. The very fast burst, tight grouping, and relatively high damage with absolutely beautiful range makes for a deadly combo. Its only shortcoming is close range, where the M4 or P90 will beat you.
Back to the topic at hand...
Good to see you coming around to COD4. I don't have much to tell you, seeing as you're a long time veteran of TTP. However, weapons in COD4 will act VERY different from Battlefield's. Whether you're looking down Iron Sights or a red dot, your bullet will land in the same place as long as you account for recoil and weapon sway. I didn't say this is true for the ACOG because it isn't. Only use the ACOG if you feel like having fun or a challenge, because your bullets will NOT go where you want them to with the ACOG. When you first get started off, you're going to be stuck with the basic classes (as you already know), but as you rank up, you gain access to Custom Classes, which allow you to pick your weapon, attachments, and camouflage (for the weapon). Depending on what weapons you prefer, rank up with those first. Ranks are pretty much your first priority because they give you access to new perks, which are basically passive (or active if you count the explosives perks) abilities that affect your combat. Ex: Stopping power increases your bullets' damage; Double Tap effectively doubles your weapon's current fire rate; Deep Impact increases your weapon's penetrating power; Extreme Conditioning increases the amount of time you can sprint. (Due to field research by the players, your weapon determines your sprint length, as well as weapon class determining how fast you move and sprint.)
I could give you a run down of everything, but I'm waiting for a certain tigress to come pester me about it."In matters of style, swim with the currents... in matters of principle, stand like a rock."

Re: Figured I'd drop by
I'd say no gun in COD4 is bad, each gun can be a killer with the right perks and in the right hands. Even the scorpian can be used effectivly with the right perks and if someone is used to to.
Thats one of the good things about COD4, there are no bad guns.
