Server issues
Hey all just picked up COD4 and COD5 and have been playing on both servers but there seems to be a problem with getting people to get on them. I have a suggestion or two that might help out.
My first idea is simple just schedule a time to play COD that way we can have a full server a few times a week instead of 1 or 2 people every now and then. Say Monday and Fridays starting at 7pm Central, this way people can schedule it and show up and kill each other.
Another idea is to swap to Hardcore, as it looks like this is what the most popular servers have on. Which is weird because I thought it was Hardcore but last time I played it was not.
Add more game types, I know I had a thread about this but switching up to HQ or that goofy War game type might pull more people in.
Also a vent server? this is a maybe as I'm not sure if this will make people jump in the server or not as I always enjoy friendly smack talk.
Hope to see more TTpers on the servers so that I may get to know you personally by stabbing, exploding, lighting on fire and shooting you all to death.

Re: Server issues
hiya pharacon, thanks for the suggestions.
join our xfire and steam groups, alot of times its how we get others on the server. posting in the reinforcements thread too.
Hardcare would just make you guys cry and bitch even more as my SMG cuts you all down. hehe, j/k
hardcore is not an option its been decided that it lacks/prevents organized teamplay and turns it in to a one man show. Takes away teamplay as you don't live long enough to follow thou on set plans.
I like hardcore but in the end it really don't matter. every hardcore server i visit yeah is full, full of campers and KD whores who don't use mics or give a fuck about winning as long as their KD is ZOMG!! uBERZZ PWNAAAAGZORrrRRrRRZzZZ.
we use in game voip or text chat as vent might cause instants of ghosting, either on purpose or my accident. "ducky is soO gay" see works fine =D

Re: Server issues
Okay I may be a wimp but I have another suggestion- turn off friendly fire :9. That has been my main reason for not playing on your server. I simply cannot abide by shooting my own team member and unfortunately I do it
- and waaayyyy to often
. Further substantiating my plea I believe it helps with team play because you can help your team members in close quarter battle without fear of damaging them yourself and it helps the server get more people in because I will come and bring all my friends too!
Also, someone explain the plant the bomb game to me... I just don't get it
. What am I supposed to be doing
? Running around with a KILL sign above my head tends to make me a bit trigger happy and then my teammates are in great peril.
I am huntn_Jade on COD5 add me as a friend and invite me... I will come shoot with yah (and I will certainly try not to shoot yah if I am on your team
!

Re: Server issues
For the most part, it has been decided that HQ and War don't feet the styles of TTP enough to use them in our rotations, similar to the reason why we don't have Hardcore like Summon said.
The fact that Hardcore removes your radar, which is vital for teamwork, really makes it less than ideal to have on TTP, thus it was removed.
For the admins, pretty much every night is game night, but we all play when we can but we also have other things that need our attention (admins and TTP in general).
Keep the suggestions coming though. It is always good to see fellow TTPers voice their opinions to help improve the server(s).
As for Sabotage maps, the idea is to pick up the bomb and run it with your team to your designated bomb site and plant it and have it go off before the other team has a chance to defuse it.
The logic behind putting a pointer on the radar is so the other team has a general idea of where you are so they can attempt to stop you in a timely manner since it is a competition to see who can blow up the other target first/the most over the course of the map. It might seem unfair, but if there wasn't any indicator, on some of the really large maps it would be easy for whoever gets the bomb first to plant it before the other team could even locate where you were.
Again, thanks for the input guys, keep it coming.

Re: Server issues
Well, I dunno... I am still thinking with friendly fire on-search and destroy might be better off without me in it. (Ducky can attest to that.
Er, sorry there Ducky.) I was pretty happy with the defend tactic but when I accidentally ended up with the bomb
- not good. Paranoid and clueless are not productive things. If it had not been for the KILL, DEFEND, DEFUSE, ect. signs I would'a had no idea there was any initiative at all so I can see there usefulness, although it doesn't make me any less paranoid about that KILL sign over my head
YIKES!
I went over and checked out the post on "Search and Destroy Tactics" by Firework700... whoa- that is a lot of information for my life that only lasted approximately 2-3 seconds each respawn period
. (and that was with only 4 people in the entire map) Nevertheless, thankyou Firework700-I read, I learned, I shall try again
. (Beware, you have been warned: I shall try again) So, if yah see me around- please feel free to give me some pointers and be sure to point me in the proper direction :8 and (I am begg'n yah) stay out from in front of my gun if I happen to get ahold of that bomb
. I get a little crazy!
You guys do play regular old Team Death match sometimes don't yah?

Re: Server issues
Typically not unless we are in a need to prime the server quickly or so because for the most part TDM is about helping your team get the most kills, which is essentially KDR, and we try not to focus on that here at TTP.
I say, don't worry about the TKs, they happen. As long as you aren't using Martyrdom or blatantly shooting people for no reason, you should be fine. We consider the Martyrdom perk an intentional TK if you happen to kill a teammate with it, so be warned.
We hope you stick around though. Lots of other great information around here for a number of things.

That thread has some good info on why we have FF on. Even though it is about COD4 and is an older thread, it still holds true mostly. Might be worth the read if you are interested.
It really comes down to making people aim better and communicate more so random nade spam or arty strikes don't kill your teammates, thus more communication and teamplay. With FF off, as we saw on our COD4 server, the game turns into a massive spray and pray and nade fest that doesn't promote the amount of teamplay that we try to uphold here.
However, we are discussing the option again, but I doubt the results will be much different.
As I said in my previous post, as long as you don't intentionally TK someone though you should be fine with FF on. Mistakes happen, and we all do it. What matters is if we meant to do it or not and listen to our teammates and saying your sorry always goes a long way.

Re: Server issues
I did go read- and I can see that it would help with random grenades and such. I think I may be even more paranoid now though... Time outs, bans
Uh oh. So give me the exacts... how many boo-boo's do I get before I get in big trouble? OMG I can never shoot again!!! Calm, calm... we can do this

Re: Server issues
I forgot to ask... what is Last Stand? I apparently do not have it and have no idea what it is...

Re: Server issues
Last Stand in COD4 is Second Chance in COD:WaW. Second Chance was improved upon though by making it so you can revive your teammates who also have Second Chance and because of that you remain on the ground longer before you are official "dead" or someone comes to revive you, unless of course you do get shot some more.

Really, the TKs that will get you banned are only if you shoot a teammate for no reason. For instance the round just starts and you right next to your entire team, no where near the enemy, if you shoot them while you are all at spawn for no apparent reason, then you would be either warned (if the admin is being nice) or just banned on the spot. It doesn't sound like you'd do that though so you should be fine.
http://67.19.3.130/cod5_stats/player...?id=1159103796 - My stats
Team Kills 50
So it isn't really a magic number that will get you banned, it is more so how they occured, and if they were intentional or accidental.
Don't worry, you'll be fine. Just might want to get use to saying your sorry.
Also, if you use the Martyrdom perk at all, just remember that having that on is highly discouraged, and if you have the perk on when you are killed and the nade the drops kills a teammate, you could get in trouble. This will usually vary depending on the admins on and if you listen to the warnings given to you before then as the admins are pretty good at warning people before hand about the Martyrdom perk with FF being enabled.
