Underrated Games/Guilty Pleasures
So I've been meaning to make this thread for awhile but now I have a even better reason to make it.
So what are the games that you really enjoy that may have gotten panned by the critics or even games that you think flew under the radar a bit and deserve attention.
My first one here is one I just finished playing Rogue Warrior, also known as the steam game with the lowest metascore. I really enjoyed playing through it, it's got fun style and I didn't run into any glitches at all, the only complaint I have with it is that it's short, it took me 2.1 hours according to steam, it isn't a great game but I think it's a good game even if it's short. One thing to note I got it in the Quakecon pack so price didn't factor into it, but it is overpriced at it's current price of 20$
My second game is Clive Barker's Jericho, it's a pretty cool game with an enjoyable story and great variety of locations it took me about 8 hours to beat so it's got a pretty good length it may not have the best shooting but it's unique and fun and totally worth it at it's current 5$ price let alone it going on sale.
The last game I'll bring up here is Quantum of Solace, I really enjoy this game, in fact it's one of my favorite movie games of all time, it's a great time that took me about 7 hours to beat on steam which was my third run-through of it as I did play it before on Wii, this is a overlooked game that while it does have flaws is totally worth playing.
Anyone else have games like this?

R.U.S.E. very original and has great depth but i think it coming out not too long after SC2 kinda killed the release. The only reason i got it is because i stumbled into the beta and feel in love with the game.

Re: Underrated Games/Guilty Pleasures
I think Hard Reset is VERY under-rated.
EDIT:
Looking at Rogue Warrior...I'd buy that...not at $20, though.
I own Quantum Of Solace, but I haven't played it yet.Last edited by Guyver; 01-20-12 at 02:39 AM. Reason: added info

I'm not sure if they are under the radar enough, but Sim City 4 and EU III are probably two of my favorite strategy games I own. For EU III in a general sense its very under the radar, but that is because it isn't something you are going to sell the bread and butter gamers on (especially now when it seems First Person Shooters rule the day. Try convincing a kid/adult/whatever playing CoD to come spend 6 hours playing EU III and see what happens). In its niche though, and even a bit in strategy circles, it is well known and usually gets the praise it should. Best PI game I've played in my opinion.
For guilty pleasures, well...I enjoyed playing 18 Wheels of Steel, I love Cricket Revolution, oh I love Train Simulator 2012, and Pro Cycling Manager 2012 may count as one as well. I'd throw in Football Manage series, which I've wasted plenty of time on, and got more then pissed off with numerous times xD, but that is actually a pretty popular series, so I don't feel as weird liking it as I do liking 18 Wheels of Steel xD.

Re: Underrated Games/Guilty Pleasures
cave story freeware version here
titan quest
evil genius
the dig
flotilla
nox
planescape - torment
some of these had good ratings... 12 years ago, but i believe a great deal of people probably passed over them
nox and planescape can be found here, and the rest should be on steam, except for cavestory is a free game, but they did a updated graphics release on steam, all great games that i have played many many many times, seems they never get old

There's this great little game that just came out, you might have heard of it. It is lacking in a few key areas and has gotten much flak from users and reviewers, but this game called battlefield 3 is actually fun to play
Seriously though, I love paying all kinds of games. Under the radar and unexposed? Age of booty is an amazing pirate Indy game that I love. No one lives forever (nolf) was a great couple of games. Max Payne 1&2 which I'm trying to complete again before 3 comes out. Those games are just incredible.
Anyone ever heard of shenmue? Great Japanese games. There are two of them, very epic storyline, huge areas, awesome fights. For a while was the most expensive game ever made.
Sins of a solar empire is also an awesome strategy game.

WWII Online : Battleground Europe
Although, I can understand why it isn't for everyone. Realism with a half scale map of Europe means you really do spend more time planning things than actually fighting, and yet waiting around for hours preparing just makes those firefights more exciting and each kill more meaningful to me.
I have so many great stories from this game.Last edited by Blah64; 01-22-12 at 04:18 AM.
