Star Wars: The Old Republic (SWTOR or TOR)
Seems there is new spaceship gameplay video out. Some folks do not like the fact that it is on 'rails' and not free form flight. Seems it will be comparable to 'Rebel Assault' and not 'X-Wing vs Tie Fighter' which I think is a pity.
One of the ships definitely is or looks exactly like the 'Ebon Hawk' from the Kotor series (itself reminiscent of the Millennium Falcon) , some others look similar to other fighters seen in the movies/games.Last edited by Blakeman; 08-17-10 at 12:49 PM.

Hmm, doesn't seem too bad though. Makes it a little easier to focus on the gameplay on the ground instead of worrying about both.
For me, I'd rather the ground combat be perfected more than anything as that, to me should be the meat of the game and where I'll want to be at most of the time. The travel here should just be a good way to load different areas while not having an excessive load time or just a flight with nothing to do. For example, the flight paths in WoW were horrible because they were long, out of the way, and left you with nothing to do but what until you got to your destination (until they introduced personal flying mounts you could control at least). This way you won't/can't get lost out in space while trying to get to your destination.
Star Wars has always had more interest for me in the ground combat since you really didn't see much of air battles or even space battles. It would be cool to have though, but that is for other games. Or since this is an MMO, maybe a future expansion release. I'd rather they focus on the main content which will most likely be ground combat it seems. Down the line if there is interest and they have the time/resources to do so, then I think it'd be neat to see free flying with quests you actually have to do while in your ship or team up with other ships to accomplish like taking on a Death Star type of structure where you'll need people inside and outside to fully take it down.
Again though that would probably be way down the line more. I'm glad they seem to be focusing on one aspect at a time as working on all the planets and ground combat plus all of space and space combat would be very extreme and very difficult/time consuming to produce.
