I remember hearing great things about the beta.

Personally, I'm still waiting for an mmo in the spirit of the original Asheron's Call to come out. Player driven world storylines that were update each month, completely skill based leveling, massive seamless world where areas flowed into each other (instead of boxes connected by tubes like WoW), new monsters, items, dungeons, and sometimes landmasses every month.

That used to be lord of the rings online (maybe not the tubes and boxes, but at least they added new boxes) and we will see how well it fares when it goes free to play.

I don't know if an mmo could keep up with that pace in today's market of mmos though.

It was fucking amazing and made the game just that much more awesome.

edit: LotRO was made by the same guys that did Asheron's Call. :P They also made DnDO and I think they are working on something new, too.

Yup, good ole turbine, forgot they made AC honestly.

I know lately they are just working on getting Lotro F2P like DDO is, which will be a bucket of awesome.
