RIP Donald "Duck" Dunn
Famed Bass Player For Stax Records, Donald "Duck' Dunn, Dies at 70 - Forbes
Most here probably don't listen to his music, but I am sure most of you have heard some stuff by him before. He is one of the most accomplished bassists of current and past generations, and is a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer.
He was so smooth, steady, and in-the-pocket... and he was very special to many. He will be missed.

Wish there was a version of this with high-quality sound.
... but I guess we're all lower-quality today.

Better quality, better known song.
Here's Duck and his pals just fucking crushing it from before most of us were even born:
Look at those Europeans (Norwegians?). They don't even know what to do. Sitting there, dumbstruck, blown-away by how awesome it is.
I recently watched Clooney and Pitt cool their way through Ocean's 11. It occurred to me just now that none of the music in that movie even exists without the MGs.
Who's gonna turn the goat piss into gasoline for us now?
Cheers,

Re: RIP Donald "Duck" Dunn
I knew Donald first from the Blues brothers movies, then later as I was introduced to other bands he was in by my step-father.
As a long time fan and part time bass enthusiast, R.I.P.~The optimist proclaims we live in the best of all worlds. The pessimist fears it true.
I just say "I like cookies!" and leave it at that.~
