Looking for a 1911, which one should I get?
So, I've got a few guns now, I've had a few before that I've had to get rid of(one being a benelli nova 12ga, the other a Remington 700 bolt 30-06).
In the few I have now I've got:
Yugoslavian SKS 7.62x39
no pic sorry
Mossberg 500 Tactical Cruiser
new looked like this

now it looks like this

Springfield Armory 9mm Compact XDM
absolutely love this gun!!

But, what I have always wanted was a 1911. Im thinking about picking one up around Christmas time. But, almost every manufacturer makes one, some being low end around $400, and go all the way up to an actual Colt 1911 around 3-4k. I want a decent one, but I also dont want to pay a fortune, something around 8-1200 maybe. I love the look, and history of the 1911's. Would love to get one in a darker color tone is what I would prefer.
I was mainly wondering which one I should get as there are so many out there. It won't be a carry gun as my xdm is for that. What do you guys have, if you can share some pics too, that would be awesome.
Thanks

In that price range, I would look at Kimber, Colt and Springfield. Ruger is just now getting into that market and have heard nothing but good things about their new 1911, which is also in that price range. You can get some really nice ones for that price. Check out Bud's Gun. 1911s for Sale at BudsGunShop
Look around there.
What are you planning on doing with this particular pistol? CCW, target? What size (3"-5") are you thinking?
I would stay away from the cheaper ones. There are also custom ones for not much more. Like the Wilson Combat or Dan Wesson.

I actually live about 4 miles away from Buds Gun Shop, awesome place, nice indoor range as well.
Looking just target shooting, something in the 5"... I use my xdm compact for ccw.
Definitely looking at a sig or Springfield.

If I was in the market for a .45 this would be it.

You may be saying if he likes it so much why wouldn't he buy it, well because I want the 3 in 1. SAR ARMS

Personally I would buy a sig but only because I am partial to all of their guns. S&W, Colt, Dan Wesson, Kimber, Springfield, Les Baer are all good choices amongst many others.
