    Headphone Recommendations?

PLEASE note that I've said "HEADPHONES" not "HEADSET." My sound card does 7.1 for Stereo headphones/headsets, so I don't need something with built in surround sound. I also have a desk microphone that does a better job than any other microphone I've had the chance to use. Therefore, I'm in the market for a solid set of headphones.

The two primary uses for these headphones will be for listening to music, and playing video games. I am not an audiophile, but I do appreciate hearing the finer parts of music, so I want something that would do well with music (I listen to everything BUT rap and dubstep, or music of that type).

And as I said, my sound card will handle simulating surround sound for gaming. I don't know what kind of sound spectrum is good for gaming, which is why I'm coming to you guys.

I already have one set in mind: the JVC HA-RX900. Please keep any suggestions under $100, and under 75 would be perfect. Any advice about what I should be looking for would also be much appreciated.

I unfortunately can't spring nearly that much money. I've done my research and I KNOW Audio Technica is pretty much the cream of the crop, but unless the prices get lower, I can't consider getting any of their good headphones.

Yeah, sorry, I was slow on the edit to my post. Didn't realize I wasn't being clear until after the fact.

I used behind the head set for years and used my desktop mic when gaming. Did the job well, they are super worn now but still kinda work so I keep them at work when I need to watch a video or something. Since then I've bought a usb set with a mic and I love it, I know its not what you want but I still recommend them. I got this one. Star Wars?: The Old Republic? Gaming Headset | Razer™ | For Gamers. By Gamers.™

Also just noticed Razer makes one for BF3 now, way out of your price range but holy crap does it look nice.

I use Razer Carachias. I know people might bash Razer, but my ears are small and fit into this headset perfectly. They have good sound, good stability, great comfort, and the mic is comfortable with nice pick-up. Still I wouldn't recommend them to someone with larger ears than mine because they completely cover my ears, but won't cover ears larger than mine.

    Plantronics | GameCom 780

I use the older version of these, the 777, and I LOVE them. Big ears will fit inside them, very comfy, good sound quality (not for music, but for games it's great).

Don't go to Razer for sound, they haven't been worth it in my experience. Look at Razer for mice. I don't know what to recommend with your emphasis on headphones versus headset, I never use desktop mics. If it didnt matter to you though I would say that the cheap Creative Fatalities are an excellent choice to fallback on. I've had mine forever and I fallback to them when my gaming set dies on me (which happens far too much). Other than them I like steelseries, siberias and 5H v2s are classics to me.

    Newegg.com - Creative Fatal1ty Gaming Headset

Newegg.com - steelseries Siberia V2 3.5mm Connector Full-size Headset - Red - these seem to be marked down?
Newegg.com - steelseries Siberia v2 3.5mm Connector Circumaural Full-size Headset - White - otherwise these are the normal ones

That's just me though it seems for sound it's mostly opinion based. It's a love-hate relationship with most people and their sound manufacturers lol.
