December 13th

The last two days have been busy, ever since we cleared out the base we've been busy. With AK busy scavenging, and Frag healing up, I've been too busy fortifying the truck to even make an entry. We'll cook a meal here before heading out, we need some real food in us.

6:00

Back on the road, but this time were in beter shape. We've fortified the fire truck with armor and a minigun, she's a bit slow with the armor, but there's enough power to get through any hordes we find. The minigun helps. I'm not really sure where were heading next, but it can't be any worse than it was yesterday. We're re-charged and re-loaded so our next encounter is going to be a little different. Watch out zombies.

Dec 13

It's been two days since I've written an entry, but between Walker, the Tank (which everyone wants to call it now since they think my name was stupid, I think it's Walker's way of getting me back after all of the derogatory statements I made about him in my journal), and the massive hordes it's just been too difficult to think about writing. I also messed up and shot that Boomer right in face causing it to explode and attract the horde, such and idiot mistake. I also think the Boomer planned that being it was in just the right place at the right time, those mutated ones are obviously smarter than the rest except for maybe the tank.

It's currently my turn to watch Walker while the others scrounge around for things in the nearby stores. He keeps saying to leave him but that's not going to happen as long as it's possible. Of course if leaving him is the line between life and death... my life is a bit more important than his. Sorry to say that Walker but it's true. I do hope we can save him but he's not looking good, he can barely write in his journal let alone walk for miles to get to a hospital. If he can just make it to the hospital I'm sure we could find something better to help him.

I can hear infected in the distance... some unlucky punk must have disturbed them, but it sounds like they're coming this way. Did the others catch their attention somehow? I should grab my gun and take a look.

Minutes later,

Infected are everywhere just outside. The others are held up in an electronics store just across the street and are giving them heck. I'm not sure what the others did to disturb them but this is the biggest group I've ever seen. I've got to do something to help them, better get going.

Dec 13th, 9:06 PM

I've been pulling double duty today, which isn't really a big problem for me. As a child, I was known for being extremely persistant and tireless when it came to things that I wanted to do. My persistance, against better judgement, has placed me outside of our barracaded home twice to raid stores.

The first trip wasn't too bad. Ficet and I scrounged around the local stores. We found in grand total a pawn shop (which had some ammunition), and a quick-e mart where we picked up some water and food (mostly junk food, as quick-e marts never have substantial food in them). The zombies in the streets were not too thick when we first headed out. The occasional zombie noticed us and we killed it. On the way back we encountered little resistance. I think it's because the sun was still out and they don't particularly like it too much.

The second trip however has been slightly different. Potemkine and I headed out again to check out the pawn shop in a little closer detail. In a drawer under the cash register we found a (as Potemkine called it) AR-16. Both of us admired the sleek look of the rifle, but we had little time to check it out too much. As soon as we left we noticed that the streets had substantially more zombies in it. The sun was almost down, so we decided to make a bolt towards our hideout with our newfound loot. We unfortunately made enough noise to attract a horde of zombies to fill up two buses! We were across the street from the furniture store, but we forgot we had barricaded it. We didn't have enough time to get to it, so we made for the electronics store across the street and hunkered down.

I'd never seen someone as good a shot as Potemkine. Since the rifle was a civilian version, it only fired single shots, but Potemkine pulled headshot after headshot with the thing. I'm grateful for that because if it was just me, I would surely have died with a broken arm and a single pistol.

After a couple minutes of fending off the horde it quieted down. Ficet was standing on the other side of the street with a smoking shotgun in his hand. Apparently he had been taking pot shots at the zombie horde while they were distracted. He motioned for us to come back to the furniture store and Potemkine and Ficet re-barricaded the door.
-
Walker's condition doesn't appear to be getting any better... at all. He's been laying on that couch mumbling something about leaving him behind. I almost wanted to smack him because he kept on telling us to leave him behind. I reconsidered that because I knew he was probably delirious from the fever. He may not even know where we are at this point. When he gets his head straight we'll head to Mercy Hospital.

As an inventory of what we grabbed from the nearby stores:
An AR-16
1 case of bottled water
Enough pistol ammo to last us 2 more days
A backpack full of junk food (although Ficet took delight in the candy)
4 flashlights - The AR-16 apparently has a flashlight mount so we got that set up.

Dec 15 Around mid day, a bit cloudy as well there could be rain

Today me Lucky and Allane discovered a nice gun store after traveling a bit farther than we usually did from our so called hide out at the furniture store. Walker wasn't getting much better and I wasn't sure how long we could sit here, those things are starting to mass and I believe it's because we've been in the area for so long. We've had to fight more and more as the days go by. The gun store was a sight for sore eyes though, we needed the ammunition.

The door was unlocked so we just walked in and the cabinets were actually unlocked as well with guns almost fully stocked inside. There was also food and supplies lying around, I'm surprised it hadn't been completely emptied out long ago but maybe people didn't travel through here much because they were trying to get out of the city, not going in deeper like us. The owner must have wanted to help as many people as he could, he left a a nice noticeable note asking anyone who found the store to please take only what they needed and leave supplies for others who may come through.

We couldn't carry much so that's what we did. There was a back room that I immediately went to inspect and there it was.. a beautiful auto shotty. It was actually semi automatic but what the heck right? I also didn't know the military name but I'm sure Pote would tell me before I even got a chance to ask. I didn't attach a bayonet to this one because punching them with the butt of the gun was just faster, more efficient, and there was no chance for it to get stuck in my victim. I couldn't really tell you what Allane and Ducky grabbed since I can't identify these weapons but they got whatever they liked plus some new toys for Pote and Walker when he got better. Allane really couldn't shoot anything besides a pistol with his injured arm but maybe he grabbed some top of the line military pistol or something, the entire back room was full of weapons I don't even think are legal, further searching may have revealed coke and other illegal drugs but it was getting dark and we needed to move.

Upon leaving the store we were ambushed... yes ambushed, we did nothing to startle them. A Boomer jumped from the building above and landed right in front of me exploding on impact knocking me off my feet. I was disoriented, blind, and worst of all covered in something that brought those things swarming like flies to sugar. Allane and Lucky seemed to have not been very affected by the blast as Lucky pulled me back into the gun store and began to shoot at the oncoming horde. They just passed by both Allane and Lucky coming directly for me but they killed most of them while I was just conscious enough to kill the few that got by them.

Then one of the jumpers (walker hasn't given it a name I know of so lets call it a Hunter) tackled Lucky knocking him to ground and then preceded to claw away at him, I shot the thing with my new shotgun easily dispatching it and helped Lucky back up, he hadn't been hurt that bad. I had to hand it Allane, even with one arm the guy was a good shot and dispatched Zombie after Zombie, he had some trouble reloading though.

They kept coming in masses and I knew we needed to do something besides shooting them. I searched around and in one of the drawers under the counter I saw about 6 explosive like devices. It looked like dynamite inside a metal like cylinder with a blinking red light and a small speaker. I flipped the switch on it and it started making a loud beeping noise and the red light started flashing a lot faster, then the entire horde turned there attention to me. I lit the explosive and threw it outside and all of them ran after it like a starving dog to meat. They couldn't stand the noise or the flashing light, they kept hitting it biting it and trying to destroy it but the metal cylinder kept the explosive safe inside. Then with all of them massed around it, it exploded and chunks flew everywhere. I grabbed the 5 remaining explosives knowing that they would indeed come in handy and we left the store killing what stragglers were left.

I think the Boomer had planed the attack, he was in just the right spot just like the one before and he knew of the nearby horde waiting to strike. He couldn't lead them, but he could bait them to us. The nearby Hunter was ready as well. They were still massing around everywhere, we needed to move out of this area. We were drawing them and staying here would mean getting overrun, we didn't want that, not at all.

then on our way back, it began to rain. It was raining for the first time in days. Now here we sit, in our fortified furniture store waiting for it to stop while I try and convince them that we need to go ahead and move even with Walker in the condition that he's in, we really need to get out of this city. I wonder if the infected mind the rain at all? (Make note of that and find out later)

Dec. 15th

we pulled off in Albany to get a rest from the road, that fire truck was never meant for long distance. A nice big building on the edge of the city has served us well as a shelter, we've blocked the stairs and have guarded it at all times.

Frag's asleep and Ak is tapping away on his phone. I've been fiddling around on an acoustic guitar I found. I was worried about the noise at first, but if I don't do somethign to calm down I'll go crazy, it has been worth the risk. Tomorrow we'll go scavenging for guns and ammo, no reason not to stock up now that we have wheels again.

So far so good, we're still alive.

Dec. 15th 9:00pm

Ak and I tried to move the fridge from the apartment were in down to the stairs for a little extra security, curse our tired brains. We dropped it right onto the top of our flight, it flipped end over end 3 times before landing on our barricade, shattering it.

all was quiet for a minute or two until that first one came......it was one of those creepy guys in the sweatshirt. we heard a scream and I went down hard as it landed on me.

"Shit!" Ak screamed.

He rammed the but of his smg into the thigs head and I followed up with four shots as I got back up to my feet.

"Thanks AK"

I'm not sure, but I think these things can communicate. Within a minute of our first encounter we started to hear them coming. AK went and woke up Frag while I tried to fix the barricade. Too late, they were all over me as soon as I got to the barricade, teeth, arms, and legs everywhere. I shot every round I had into their heads, taking down quite a few before swinging Tick's AR-15 at the mob and backing off. I'd expected a little help from AK, but Frag came to save my ass again, emerging at the top of the stairs. I dove past him when I reached the top and he immediately poured four shots down the stairway, clearing the rest. just inside the door we could hear AK fighting his own battle, they were coming through the windows into the apartment. We quickly set up position that I thought were pretty good for a couple of kids. AK in the apartment door watching our backs, Frag watching the flight below us from the landing, while I picked off the stragglers Frag missed and covered for whoever was reloading.

AK went down after about two minutes of straight fighting and I filled in for him, Frag and I had to reload between swinging our weapons, keeping AK between us. AK fought on, taking my pistol as well as his own and firing from the ground. These things came from all over and w didn't have any of our xplosives with us.

It was a bloody five minutes, which seems longer when the adrenaline is going, but we made it. AK is pretty scratched up and Frag and I won't be picking up chicks any time soon.

Dec. 15 6:47 P.M.

I can hear the rain, hitting against whats left of the windows, it has gotten dark, so we won't be coming out of our hideout anytime soon... they come out in larger groups during the night, so I guess we will move by day, and rest at night. Today we had some of the best runs yet, we were able to stock up in supplies and we are distributing them now. We found a map of the city in one of the gift shops, so now we can mark stores that we have visited and plan our searches, and later movements when Walker gets better.

We have come across several very important locations, a camping necessities store, we found knives, sleeping bags, flashlights, etc. That place was heaven on zombie Apocalypse Earth. We found a Quick-e Mart, for various junk foods and candy, Ficet couldn't be happier, but more importantly they had freezers filled with ice, ice that Walker needed for his high temperature. We found a hardware store, tools, wood, metal, etc. Everything we needed to help board up our windows and reinforce the door.
And lastly we found a gun shop, oh yes, a gun shop with every weapon conceived, whats even better was it was all open, everything, you could just walk in and grab what you wanted. I found an Assault Rifle, one I recognized, the AK101. And an instruction manual to go with it! Yes not only did the owner of the store leave everything for anyone who wanted it, but he left instructions on most weapons too! I grabbed a flashlight attachment (provided in the gun shop), and a silencer. I told the others to try and find weapons that could be used with a silencers, that way we wouldn't attract the horde with the sounds of our gun fire. Of course upon finding an automatic shotgun, Ficet couldn't leave it there. Whatever, sometimes its good to have a weapon that can pack a punch even for the cost of sneakiness. The back room of the store had things which I didn't recognize, probably illegal, then again most of the weapons in this store were. We found some bombs which attract the zombies to the explosion.

Back at the hideout, everyone is doing whatever they can, some write in their journals, others look at the map, we started rationing our food, Walker needs help to eat...he is delirious from time to time, asking for us to leave him, refusing to eat sometimes. The others have been force feeding him, cruel, but when he gets better he will thank us, he needs all the energy he can get.

I stole some playing cards from the gift shop, a game or two wouldn't hurt, good for moral, calm everyone down. We found warmer clothes in a store that we raided yesterday, so it's not as cold. Looks like everything just might be alright, tomorrow we will need to find a pharmacy or something, Walker is going to need Meds soon.

Dec 15th

Not much has changed since the 13th...

On one day we went out to raid some more stores and we came across a gift shop, where we were able to find a map of the city. It should help us a bit - maybe we can find a pharmacy and get some pills for Walker.

Also, on one of our longer expeditions into the city, we came across an unlocked gun store. And surprisingly enough, all the gun lockers and displays were unlocked. We found a note telling anyone who finds these guns to take as much as is necessary. We couldn't carry all of the weapons, so we all picked a single weapon. I recognized one of those 92FS's, so I decided to take two for when my arm got better (though I knew it would take about half a year for it to fully heal). I was surprised by how light the pistol was compared to that one Potemkine gave me. It also performed like a champ when one of those bloated guys took a dive near Ficet.

The damn thing exploded and covered Ficet in a similar goop as the one before this encounter. The zombies came flooding in like there was no tomorrow; however, they ignored everyone but Ficet. We managed to pick them off until Ficet found some pipe bombs with a little flashing light and beeper on it. When he threw it, all the zombies forgot about Ficet and went to attack the pipe bomb. When that thing exploded, it threw a strange red mist everywhere as well as a couple bits of zombie. It was disgusting, but it did the job fine.

There were 6 more of them, so we each picked up two and brought them back to the safehouse, where Walkerxes was waiting for us. We also brought back my backpack full of ammunition.

Walker keeps telling us to leave him behind, but we haven't given up on him yet. He doesn't seem like he's able to eat by himself, so we've had to force feed him. It's a little degrading, but it doesn't help when he doesn't want to eat either.

Lucky found a deck of cards though at that Gift Shop, and apparently Ficet has played as much cards as I have, which is about 2-3 years worth of casual play in various card games. It has proven to be an excellent way to pass the time. Although, looking at that map with Ficet and Potemkine has been taking a lot of our time too. Apparently we're only half a mile away from the Hospital, but the map doesn't take into account blocked streets or alleyways. But still, we studied the map for a couple hours and started planning out a path to the hospital. If the way turns out the way we want, then we won't have to carry Walkerxes too long to get to the hospital.

Here's to days to come
-Al.
