Two NFL coaches fired...
Tony Sporano of the Dolphins and Todd Haley of the Chiefs. I don't really see that either of them truly deserve it. Sporano has done a pretty good job with a crappy roster. Haley won the west last year, and this year has lost his top RB and QB. Gotta love what have you done for me lately management.

Then look at the Texans... lots of people were calling for Kubiak's head last year... management was patient and look at where they are now with their third string QB. Changing coaches isn't the best solution, but often the easiest... GMs don't want to take the time to get rid of the players who are often at the heart of the issue.

Yeah, it seems most teams are on a 3 year plan. You have 3 years to win playoff games, or you are fired. It doesn't matter if your team is consistently shit, just win baby.

Problem was, they were underachieving for the amount of talent they had. Not to mention, it took Manning getting hurt, and it still wasn't looking good.
I like Yates, and I have no issues with the Texans, but in the NFL, I can't see them getting very far in the playoffs with a 3rd string QB.

Re: Two NFL coaches fired...
What have you done lately is all the Press and the league is about. Shit, I've been hearing/seeing people basically say Gabbert sucks, he is a failure, etc. etc. over what? His rookie season on a bad team? FFS anything I read pre-draft was all about letting Gabbert sit a year or two and learn before being thrown to the wolves (you saw this last year when Jimmy Clausen was sold down the river over one year). So basically the standard for rookie QBs now is you have to win in your first season or you suck and should go be a bag boy and never play again. Talk about bullshit.
Anyways with the Chiefs job, already reading rumors that Josh McDaniels may be the next coach there. If that is the case, how exactly is he an improvement over Haley?

Re: Two NFL coaches fired...
I can't honestly say I'm surprised that either of them got fired. Sparano actually had a pretty decent roster in Miami. Far better than an 0-7 start, and he was already on shaky ground before that. Henne's not a great QB, but he's at least an average one. They have a good running game, pretty good o-line, one of the best WRs in the game and a few decent guys behind him, so the offense should be fairly solid. The defense has played ok, but their offense has absolutely killed them this season and until Matt Moore took over and started playing well, the Dolphins couldn't win jack shit. Sparano's firing was more about underachieving with his roster than anything else.
It's the same with the Chiefs. He lost his top RB, but Thomas Jones was a legit RB last year, now all of a sudden he's garbage? Jackie Battle looked good for a few games, then dropped off completely. Matt Cassel only recently got injured, and the Chiefs were in trouble loooong before that happened. They were in trouble because despite having pretty decent weapons (including Jonathan Baldwin and Dexter McCluster), the only one that got any use was Bowe and he was very erratic. Also the defense was porous as all hell, and hadn't really lost anyone of note outside of Eric Berry....and despite Berry's potential and flashes of greatness, a safety being out doesn't all of a sudden make the entire defense play like a high school JV team. The Haley firing was predictable, and I told Hocus yesterday afternoon that if the Chiefs lost that day Haley would probably be fired. 24 hours later I'm proven right.
As for wondering if McDaniels would be an improvement over Haley....I'd have to say it would. McDaniels' main failing in Denver was being poor in the draft and taking too much control over personnel issues. With Scott Pioli running that in KC, that's not really a problem. Instead McDaniels can focus on coaching the team and getting Cassel back to where he was with the Patriots, a solid QB who doesn't really do anything super special, but can be counted on. I just hope McDaniels either brings in someone good to coach his defense, or at the very least keeps Romeo Crennel as his defensive coordinator.
Who knows though, if the Chiefs play well down the stretch for Crennel, maybe he gets the interim removed from his head coaching title and gets another shot himself....maybe brings in McDaniels to coach the offense lol
