Crit vote at the start of maps?
Well good to see the server full again, even if there are a few less skilled players on it now. I was wondering though, since the nocrit was dropped to get more players on would it be possible to have a crit vote that pops up at the start of a new map? I know some servers used to have this and it seemed like a good system.
Currently it seems like a full server requires 12 people to type on votecrit before we can even vote. Alternatively could that number be lowered so its easier to start a crit vote?
I personally think not having random crits is one of the things that defines better servers, so would be nice to make it easier to at least vote on the possibility.Last edited by DrHaphazard; 02-04-12 at 09:01 PM.

Re: Crit vote at the start of maps?
the problem with no crits is that it takes us off the "play now " option. So if the server is full do a votecrits if its not full don't. the more regs on the server the easier it will be to pass the vote.

Re: Crit vote at the start of maps?
Ah so once people vote for no crits it takes tpg off the server list? I was afraid of that...disregard this suggestion then.
I thought there might be a difference between permanently on and vote for it, but it makes sense that it wouldn't work that way.

Re: Crit vote at the start of maps?
Its still a good suggestion. We all hate getting hit by random crits. tbh if I see a server thats full starting off a map, I'll throw up a crits vote, so dont be afraid to use team chat with '@ <chat>' to ask for it (or become an admin yourself to initiate it *cough*).

The only time I have a problem with random crits is when Langrad is on the other team. Crits are attracted to him like a fat kid to cupcakes.

Re: Crit vote at the start of maps?
Why? Having crits on is what keeps the server full. Remember when we used to prime the server, and it would die down after a map or 2? It wasn't that long ago. No crits needs to be used sparingly at this point until we can get the reservist base to keep it steady. Automating something like that right now wouldn't be a good idea.

Re: Crit vote at the start of maps?
Has anyone tested to see if making a SM plugin change the crit chance to 0% while still having crits "on" will remove the server from play now?
Critical Hit Modifier - AlliedModders
Plugins don't remove the play now tag as far as I know, and it would give us the best of both worlds.
Even if we kept crits on by default like now, when we would want to vote them off using this plugin would keep the play now people connecting. Also, I'm not sure if it would help but, what if the no crit vote also changed the server hostname to "TeamPlayerGaming.com TF2 nocrit" when it passed, then when the map changes the name changes back. Give people real time confirmation that crits are on or off.Last edited by insanegammer109; 02-05-12 at 01:26 PM.
